The Paula’s Story
Paula Mueller has always had a knack for fashion. On Small Business Saturday—November 24, 2018—Paula’s dream of owning a boutique came true as Paula’s Couture Consignment opened its doors for business in downtown Batavia, IL.
“I have always loved fashion! As an 8-year-old, I remember walking down to Buster Brown and picking my saddle shoes to go with my corduroy jumper for picture day! That love flourished as I grew. From spiral perms to Z Cavaricci jeans, I have experimented with different looks. Luckily, all these fun missteps led me to owning my own consignment shop, where I have curated some fun looks and never shy away from being bold.”
Women’s fashion changes quickly, while classic pieces are always sought after. “By shopping at a consignment store, you can try things that you’ve wanted to try but didn’t want to pay a lot for. It’s a nice way to shop. Lots of working women will like this type of fashion.”

In January 2026, Paula’s Couture Consignment began a new chapter when Amanda Mistretta became the new owner. Amanda fell in love with Paula’s, its customers, and the community that had grown around it. She is honored to carry on Paula’s vision while bringing her own energy, creativity, and love of fashion to the shop.
“Taking over Paula’s feels like being entrusted with something really special. Paula built more than a consignment store—she built a place where women can come together, have fun, express themselves, and feel good about what they’re wearing. I want to continue that spirit while making Paula’s my own. I love helping someone find that unexpected piece that makes them feel amazing, and I’m so excited to see where this next chapter takes us.”
